Privacy Policy
GeoRumble is a collaborative geography quiz you play inside Discord voice channels (as a Discord Activity) or in your browser. This policy explains what we handle, why, and for how long. In short: we collect as little as possible, keep most of it only for the length of a game, and never sell or advertise against your data.
What we process
- Your Discord identity (Discord Activity play). When you join a
game inside Discord, we ask Discord for the minimum
identifyscope: your Discord user ID and displayed username. The ID identifies your seat in the room; the username labels it for other players. We receive nothing else from your Discord account. - A locally stored guest profile (browser play). Outside Discord, the site generates a random identifier and remembers the display name you type, using your browser's local storage. This never leaves your device except for the name and random ID needed to place you in a room.
- Transient game state. While a room is active, our server keeps what the round needs: the list of participants (IDs and display names), the puzzle sequence, which regions have been found, and the finishing time. This exists only to sync everyone's screen.
What we don't do
- No analytics, tracking pixels, advertising, or profiling.
- No cookies; browser data is limited to the local-storage items above.
- No sale or sharing of personal data with data brokers or advertisers.
- No reading of your messages, voice, microphone, or camera — the game runs alongside your voice channel, not inside it.
How long we keep things
Game rooms are ephemeral: when the last player leaves, the room's state is deleted automatically, and idle rooms are swept within minutes. Your guest profile persists in your own browser until you clear it. Discord OAuth tokens are used to authenticate you and are not persisted by the game.
Third parties
- Discord hosts the activity interface and your account; your use of Discord is governed by Discord's own privacy policy.
- Cloudflare serves the game and its realtime connections as our hosting provider.
We do not send these providers anything beyond what is needed to run a session.
Children
GeoRumble is played through Discord and follows Discord's age policies. The game is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your region), and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
Your choices
- To erase your browser profile, clear site data for this website in your browser.
- Room state cannot be tied back to you once the room ends — it is deleted, not archived.
- For questions or deletion requests, open an issue at github.com/Arham4/georumble.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, we will update this page and its date above.
